DESSERT!!!!!

Since this for my very last entry, I'm going to talk about dessert. I think the dessert that catching my eyes is Batternberg

It's look so soft and yummy to eat. The colour of the Batternberg make my mouth watery and it's kind of attracting my desire. Here, I would like to list the ingredients on how to make this Batternberg! So, let's get started it!

Ingredients

For the cake
For the covering

Preparation method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.
  2. Grease a 20cm/8in square, loose-based cake tin with butter.
  3. Take a 30cm x 20cm/12in x 8in strip of baking parchment and make a 8cm/3in fold in the centre. This will create a division in the cake so that the two differently coloured sponges can be cooked at the same time.
  4. Line the tin with the baking parchment, keeping the division in the centre.
  5. Put the butter, sugar, eggs, flour and vanilla in a food processor and pulse until well combined.
  6. Transfer the batter to a bowl set on scales, remove half of the batter and put it in a different bowl.
  7. Add a small dab of red food colouring to one bowl and fold it into the batter until it is well blended.
  8. Spoon the cake batters into each side of the prepared tin and smooth the surface with the back of a spoon.
  9. Bake in the centre of the oven for about 25 minutes, or until the sponges have risen. Cool in the tin for five minutes, then slide a knife around the outside of each sponge and turn them out onto a wire rack. If the sponges have risen unevenly, press the surface gently until level. Leave until completely cold.
  10. To assemble the cake, first place one sponge on top of the other and trim off the crusty edges so they are both the same size. Cut the sponges in half lengthways to make four long rectangles.
  11. Warm the apricot jam in a saucepan then press through a fine sieve.
  12. Brush the long side of one of the sponges with jam and sandwich together with a sponge of a contrasting colour. Do the same with the other two sponges.
  13. Sandwich the two pairs of sponges together like a checker board and brush the top and sides with jam.
  14. Place the marzipan on a surface dusted with icing sugar and roll into a rectangle of about 40cm x 20cm/16in x 10in; it should be large enough to wrap the cake completely, leaving the ends exposed, and be about 5mm/¼in thick.
  15. Turn the cake upside down on the marzipan and brush the underside of the sponges with jam.
  16. Wrap the marzipan around the cake, pressing it gently onto the surface of the sponges, and press the edges together to make a firm join.
  17. Turn back over with the seam underneath, trim a thin slice off each end and place on a serving plate.

If I'm not mistaken, it's called Chicken Lime.*kind of lah*.What I want to share here is, The tempura is taste good, but the thing with white colour is not satisfied me so much, because the mix with garlic. How I wish to be in India, even though it's a crowded country but the foods are really attracting me to go there. LOL, just dream it. Okay, now let's fly to India to explore more about the traditional foods there. So, the food that really attracting me is called Bengali which is it tastes sweet and spicy. As we know, Indian people love to eat sweet and spicy. By right, we know how their foods taste like.

The specialty of Bengali food lies in the perfect blend of sweet and spicy flavors.Bengali cuisine is appreciated for its fabulous use of panchphoron, a term used to refer to the five essential spices, namely mustard, fenugreek seed, cumin seed, aniseed, and black cumin seed. The staple food of people in Bengal is rice and fish. Typical Bengali needs to have fish in every meal, if not there is a feeling that the meal is incomplete..

Most of the cooking is done by using mustard oil.Bengali food is famous for its mithais (sweets). The origin of typical Bengali sweets can be traced back in the traditional household kitchens. For cooking fish, you can either fry, or cook it with gravy.

    Mexico Traditional Foods

Hey, let's continue on our trip which is for this entry, we will go to Mexico. But,before that let's take a look on their traditional foods first.

    Gorditas (chili-braised pork)

Alright, it looks good right? Me, myself feels like want to try some but I don't know when I can step my food on that country (Mexico). Basically, it looks so simple and I'm pretty sure to make this kind of food just a piece of cake. But, let's take a look on the ingredients what they put in this awesome food.

Okay, as we already know, the food that are come from overseas they will put some alcohol or even used some NON-Halal things such as pork, and champagne. But, that's just additional ingredients for them, if we want to cook this kind of food (Gorditas) we can actually eat it but just don't put the NON-Halal ingredients.

A gordita is typically prepared as a thick Tortilla.

    INGREDIENTS
    • 1 recipe masa dough
    • Vegetable oil, for frying
    • 1 recipe chili-braised pork, beef barbacoa, or slow cooker chicken, warmed
    • 1 recipe quick curtido
    • Mexican crema, for serving

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Using wet hands, roll masa dough into 15 golf-ball-sized balls. Pat balls into flat 4-inch rounds about 1/4 inch thick; if edges crack, run a wet finger around them to smooth them. Place rounds on a baking sheet and keep covered with a towel as you work.
    2. Fill a large cast iron skillet with 1/4" oil and heat over medium-low heat until shimmering. Working in batches, add masa rounds and fry, flipping once, until well-browned and crisp, about 4 minutes per side. Test for doneness by poking shells with a finger: if they feel soft inside, return to oil and continue frying, flipping as needed to avoid burning, until firm to the touch. Drain on a paper-towel-lined baking sheet. Continue until all masa shells are fried, adding more oil to the pan if necessary.
    3. Using a sharp serrated knife, split masa shells in half crosswise. For each gordita, pile about 2 tablespoons braised meat on lower halves of masa shells, then top with about 2 tablespoons curtido. Smear top half of gordita shell with about 1 teaspoon crema. Close sandwich and serve immediately.

Goodluck! *dont forget to change the NON-Halal Ingredients with Halal things

Specialty or When The Traditional Foods is Served

Surely, you guys out there, especially people who are from other countries will not know about this. So, let's get started with traditional foods which is Malaysia.
Everyone knows and it's kind of common things when it comes to Eid Mubarak which is mostly, people will cook this type of foods, Ketupat, Lemang, Rendang and Tapai. But, for this entry I'll talk more about Ketupat and Tapai because me as Kelantanese, my family always serves this kind of foods when it comes to Eid Mubarak. It is like main foods for us.

This is how it looks when Ketupat is completely cooked. The colour is kind of gold. Okay, Ketupat have many types of it but my family more prefer to cook Ketupat Tawar(tasteless) and Ketupat Manis(sweetness). Well, Kelantanese like me loves to eat foods that taste so sweet and Kelantanese called it " MANIS LETING " It means, too sweet to handle.

But how about to eat these types of Ketupat Tawar and Manis?

For Ketupat Tawar, we need to eat it with "Manisan" which is dark palm sugar where we have to cook it till melt it down and make it like a sauce. Dip it, then eat it. However, for Ketupat Manis we just simply eat it because it's already taste sweet. For me, I'm more prefer to eat Ketupat Manis rather than Ketupat Tawar as I don't really like dark palm sugar.

Okay, I think I've done with Ketupat. So, let's moving on to Tapai (fermented rice).

    Le's show the picture first.

suddenly, my mouth becomes watery talking about these kind of food.
This food takes a couple days to make sure it's completely fermented. We have to make sure, it's completely wrapped with clothes.

how to prepare it: (recipe from my bunda)

    1. 1 kg Glutinous Rice
    2. 1 pc Ragi / Tapai Yeast - ground
